Welcome to Kei Mouth!
The lovely seaside holiday village of Kei Mouth is situated 45 minutes drive from East London in South Africa's scenic Eastern Cape Wild Coast region. It is popular due to its location as the southern entry point to the Transkei Wild Coast and is also the starting point for the challenging Imana Wild Ride and the Wild Run series events, which are held annually.
You will find a wide variety of Kei Mouth accommodation here.
Kei Mouth has a country club with 13 hole golf course and separate tee-boxes making it a comfortable 18 hole round of golf, as well as squash courts, a pool table, bar with big screen TVs, restaurant, braai places and outdoor seating. There is also a Bowls Club in the main road.
There are several sandy beaches, as well as good fishing, horse riding, township tours, a game reserve just outside of town, several easy coastal hikes, a surf spot, ski-boat launch site and several bird watching spots.
Kei Mouth is also home to the 'Pont', one of South Africa's three remaining car-transporting pontoon river ferry services. The Pont carries vehicles, passengers and livestock across the Great Kei on a daily basis and the trip is an unforgettable experience.
There are five restaurants and eateries in and around Kei Mouth, with menus to suit all taste buds. From Friday night braais and parties at The Shed, to traditional pub fare and calamari at The Bushpig, and fantastic views and food at the Country Club, there's something for everyone.
Kei Mouth and nearby Morgan Bay play host to several events during the December holidays that range from music festivals and firework shows, to craft markets, golf tournaments, beach cricket and beach touch rugby tournaments.
To the North of Kei Mouth, is the ruggedly beautiful Wild Coast where one can follow in the footsteps of the shipwreck survivors, visit a local village, explore the hills on a mountain bike, canter along the beach on horseback or laze about in the calm waters of a secluded lagoon.
To the South, is the picturesque little village of Morgan Bay which boasts a mile long stretch of sandy beach, scenic cliffs and the idyllic Double Mouth Nature Reserve.
