Hiking Trails - Kei Mouth
From the five day award winning Strandloper Trail to Game Viewing and Bird Watching walks. Kei Mouth has it all to offer. Down a valley and following the Gugura River. You have never been so close to nature.
Kei Mouth is the start of the popular "Strandloper Trail", which begins nearby and passes through Morgan Bay, Haga Haga and the Jikeleza Route villages before terminating at Gonubie. There are shorter walks through the coastal forest along Lover's Lane in Kei Mouth and up to the lookout points above the Kei River on Signal Hill.
Alternatively, for a full day hike, cross the Kei on "the Pont" and walk along the coastline past the mouth of the Gxara River to the Qolora River Mouth, where you can enjoy lunch at the Trennerys Hotel. This hike is best done at low tide and it's an 8km (3 hour) walk each way so, pack plenty refreshments. The wreck of the Jacaranda lies another 2 hours distant, so leave early if that is where you're headed.
Another day walk takes you south along the coast to Morgan Bay, up onto the magnificent cliffs (pictured) and beyond to the Double Mouth Nature Reserve.
There are several magnificent hiking trails along the Wild Coast, including the Wild Coast Pondo Trail, the Hole in the Wall Hiking Trail, the Wild Coast Hiking Trail, the Wild Coast Meander / Amble and the Strandloper Trail. Whilst these trails are all superb in their own right, the serious hiker might be tempted into stringing them together and doing them all in one.
